Today I’m grateful that:

  • My sister Heather has returned to “live” in Boston … even if it’s only for six weeks!
  • The weather is nice enough to leave all the windows open all night. It feels like the longest winter of my life is finally officially over!
  • Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce! I am so immensely and eternally grateful that my friend Simone surprised me with a ticket to see Springsteen for my birthday. She had asked me when the tickets went on sale if I wanted to go, but I said I just couldn’t afford it given my circumstances (i.e. both of us without full-time employment). Then she suprised me with them anyway! It was certainly one of the most thoughtful and generous gifts I’ve ever received. I feel awful that she ended up not being able to go because of a pet emergency, and now tops on my to-do list is somehow making it up to her. But as you can see from my pictures and videos, it’s going to be hard to equal the experience of being thisclose to Bruce Freakin Springsteen.

I’ve made a point of finding three things to be grateful for when I post, but today there’s just one, but it warms my heart in such a deep way that it’s equivalent to three a day every day for the rest of the year!

Today I’m grateful that:

  • We had another sunny, not extremely cold day so I could continue making our yard a little less hideous looking. Key word being a little.
  • A friend of a friend who went missing in late February has finally been found safe. He is distraught and still needs lots of prayers, but I’m grateful that his story did not have the sad ending that it seemed headed for, and hopeful that he can find peace and happiness.
  • The Bruins are back in a real playoff hunt, and started with a nice win over the Canadiens tonight! It’s so great to be able to get genuinely excited about the Bruins again!

Today I’m grateful that:

  • My brother hosted Easter dinner. I think this is the first holiday or family get-together that we haven’t hosted (other than when we’ve been out of town) since we moved into our house almost three years ago. And while I love hosting, it was really, really nice to get a break!
  • My dad had a scanned copy of a photo that my cousins have been dreading me getting a hold of, but that my cousin’s wife has been dying to get a hold of. This mixture of reaction makes me happy I suppose in a cruel sort of way. But it’s an adorable picture! (And I was nice and didn’t actually tag it on Facebook. That counts for something, right?)
  • The sun was shining all day. So what if it was still only in the 40s. At least it wasn’t gray!

Today I’m grateful for:

  • Having a group of girlfriends from college who can visit me from out of town for more than 24 hours, never leave the house, barely turn on the TV, and keep ourselves thoroughly entertained the entire time.
  • Laughing til you cry.
  • Dishwashers, both human and machine.

Today I’m grateful that:

  • I made it through April Fool’s Day without being fooled. For the most part. Okay, for about three seconds I thought GMail really had found a way to automatically fill in an appropriate reply to an email. But I probably shouldn’t admit that.
  • The right person was voted off American Idol tonight. Sorry, Megan (I tried to change my name to Joy mid-way through the competition) Corkrey, but it was most definitely your time to go. You’re gorgeous and all, and I think you have a voice you could do something with if you had any clue what to do with it, but you don’t yet, so it was time to go home, sweet home, as Carrie Underwood or Motley Crue would say. And as much as I like freaks, your freakiness was getting a bit annoying. Ca-caw! Fly away!
  • Lately, each day seems to bring another level of relief. I hope the trend continues.
