Today I’m grateful that:

  • I have so many very fond memories of spendings weekends and vacations at my grandparents’ house in Hampton, NH. These are some my favorite childhood memories. It’s sad to think of the house being sold, but I’m very grateful to have had so many years and so many great memories.
  • I got a very nice, very informative walking tour of Portsmouth from my friend, Andrew. Did you know that area has the second strongest tide in the world? Now you know. Also nice to revisit Prescott Park, even though it seemed much more grand in my childhood memories. I guess I was just a lot smaller back then.
  • Still happy about Kris Allen winning American Idol, and this is one more reason why. Adorable!

Today I’m grateful that:

  • My friends Tracy and Sam came over to watch the American Idol finale. It’s so much better when you can make fun of people with others.
  • Bikini Girl got her comeuppance. I’ve never really liked Kara, but I totally give her props for showing up that talentless, mindless soul-crusher.
  • My boyfriend, Kris Allen, won American Idol!!! Though, really, I would have been just as happy if Adam had won. I was happy to see them both enjoying themselves so thoroughly throughout the show, and you could tell that Adam was genuinely happy for Kris when he won. Although maybe he was thinking, thank God, I don’t have to sing that awful debacle “No Boundaries.”

Today I’m grateful that:

  • The earthquake in LA was very minor, and that Chad is not easily disturbed. He didn’t even realize it was an earthquake until people told him later. Glad I was not out there after all, since I’m positive that I would have noticed it!
  • I had a distraction from the horribly bad play of the Celtics. See next bullet point.
  • People in my family have a tendency to hang onto things.  Sometimes I don’t admire this quality, but other times I’m really grateful. Like tonight, as I was looking through a cedar chest of old family momentos that none of us even realized was anything more than a decoration. Fascinating, heartwarming, bittersweet.

Today I’m grateful that:

  • I have a brother who doesn’t mind moving furniture. Or at least, doesn’t admit it if he does.
  • My brother has a friend who doesn’t mind moving furniture. Or at least, doesn’t admit it if he does.
  • My sister has successfully moved to Portland, yay! No longer need a cross-country flight to see her. :)

Today I’m grateful that:

  • Chad and I actually watched Lost the night that it aired. We tend to let it, and many other shows, sit in the DVR for a day or week or two or three. Luckily we watched the season finale the same night it aired, so we didn’t find out before watching that Jacob is really a female alien who brought everyone to the island to eat them. Or something like that.
  • American Idol now lets the contestants use instruments. Makes all the difference in the world.
  • There is justice in the world, and my boyfriend Kris Allen and his BFF Adam Glambert are in the American Idol finale!!!

Today I’m grateful that:

  • My mother has put up with me for 34 years. It hasn’t always been easy. I just hope that the good times have outweighed the bad, and that she knows how much I appreciate her.
  • I’ve been lucky to have two grandmothers with such a long and positive influence in my life. I cherish this more and more as we all become older.
  • The Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox provided an exciting end to Mother’s Day. No sports fan in Boston can complain today! Here’s just one of the moments.

Today I’m grateful that:

  • The weather was absolutely, completely perfect for the annual Sullivan-Carney-Wisnes-etc. Family Red Sox game. I was just hoping it wouldn’t rain much. I never hoped for such a beautiful night!
  • The Red Sox made the game fun and exciting, and gave us a win!
  • I have such an awesomely fun family. I like people who know how to have a good time!

Today I’m grateful that:

  • The Red Sox scored 12 runs in one inning to make us forget, at least momentarily, the crappy news about Manny Ramirez testing positive for a banned substance, which of course makes everyone look sideways at the time he spent on the Red Sox. I think we’ll need the Sox to keep scoring 12+ runs a game, if not an inning, moving forward.
  • My friend, Rachel, donated a ticket to me for Saturday’s game, so I’ll be seeing two Sox games in a row this weekend. Makes me really feel like spring is here!
  • A birthday gift card from Rachel that let me buy two books, including the second in the Twilight series, and still have money left over to go back for more … which I’m sure will be the third in the Twilight series. Addicted to those hot-looking vampires!

Today I’m grateful that:

  • The Celtics won Game 7 of an amazing series last night! (We won’t talk about any other Boston sports today.)
  • My parents and sister came over today to watch Slumdog Millionaire. My parents aren’t much of movie watchers, so this is a bit of an event. Even though it’s a hard movie to watch at times, I think it’s an incredible movie, and they seemed to like it too. Jai ho!
  • Thirty-three years ago today, my friend Simone was born! She is truly a great friend, and I’m not saying that just because she got me thisclose to Bruce Springsteen (see previous post). Really!
